Website Privacy Policy
Last updated: 02 January 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Safe Drop (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data. Safe Drop is operated by a UK-based sole trader and complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
By using Safe Drop, you acknowledge and accept the data practices described in this policy.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to individuals and landlords who create a Safe Drop account and use the Safe Drop service. Safe Drop is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18.
2. Personal data we collect
2.1 Account information
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Account password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider)
2.2 Payment information
Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, Stripe. Safe Drop does not store or process your card details.
2.3 Safe Drop location content
You may choose to submit information that is displayed when a Safe Drop QR code is scanned, including:
- Delivery instructions
- Safe drop location descriptions
- First name and contact number (if you choose to display them)
2.4 Photos
Safe Drop may allow the upload of photos (such as proof-of-delivery images). These features may evolve over time.
3. How Safe Drop location pages work
Safe Drop uses QR codes to display delivery instructions at a physical location. When a QR code is scanned with a valid link, the associated Safe Drop details may be shown.
Safe Drop location pages:
- Are intended to be viewed by delivery drivers
- Are accessible to anyone who scans the QR code
- Are not intended to be indexed by search engines
To reduce exposure, Safe Drop uses technical measures such as:
- Preventing search engine indexing
- Requiring valid URL parameters (including a “pass” parameter) to display details
These measures reduce casual access but are not foolproof. Anyone with access to a valid QR scan link may be able to view the information you choose to display.
You are responsible for deciding what information to include in your Safe Drop instructions and should not include any information you are uncomfortable sharing.
4. How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- Create and manage your Safe Drop account
- Provide and operate the Safe Drop service
- Process subscription payments
- Communicate with you about your account or service updates
- Improve the functionality and reliability of Safe Drop
5. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data based on:
- Performance of a contract (providing the Safe Drop service)
- Your consent (where you choose to display information publicly via QR codes)

6. Data retention
If you cancel your account, your data is retained until the end of your current billing period.
Uploaded photos may be retained indefinitely unless you request deletion.
7. Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data. We only share data with trusted third parties where necessary to provide the service, including:
- Stripe (payment processing)
- Namecheap / EasyWP (hosting)
- Namecheap and Google (email delivery)

10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. However, no system can guarantee absolute security.
In particular, information displayed via Safe Drop QR codes may be visible to anyone with access to the QR scan link. You should carefully consider what information you choose to display.
